"TRUE-ORTHODOX INTERVIEWS VLADIMIR MOSS" - TRUE-ORTHODOX: “Hasn’t the Moscow Patriarchy changed since the fall of communism in 1991? Vladimir Moss: "Well - let's look at the way things have changed in Russia and in the Moscow Patriarchate since the 1950s when Metropolitan Anastassy wrote his testament." - TRUE-ORTHODOX: "What was Metropolitan Anastassy's last will and testament?" Metropolitan Anastassi: "So long as the Moscow Patriarchate and its hierarchs continue in active cooperation with the Soviet Government then the Church Abroad maintaining her purity, must not have any canonical, liturgical, or even simply external communion with them whatsoever." - TRUE-ORTHODOX: "But isn’t it true that the Soviet Government is no more and there is no more persecution?" Vladimir Moss: "Although there is now less open persecution of TRUE-ORTHODOXY, Stalin is still praised to the skies, and the KGB (now the FSB) is still in power, and it is still praised to the skies (the monument to its founder, Felix Dzerzhinsky, has been re-erected in Moscow). The former Soviet hierarchs, having been given a chance to repent when they were exposed in 1992, have not repented and continue in power. So we must call them neo-Soviet." - TRUE-ORTHODOX: "In what other way has neo-sovietism emerged?" Vladimir Moss: "The red flag flies again over the Soviet (sorry - Russian) armed forces. The hammer and sickle were much in evidence when Bush visited Moscow recently. The Soviet national anthem is back (with different words). In all, the Soviet Empire has hit back! Seething with resentment at its defeat in the cold war, the wounded beast is preparing its revenge." - TRUE-ORTHODOX: "Well, so what? The MP is a confessing church and that's all that matters." Vladimir Moss: "Actually the dogmatic confession of the MP has gotten much, much worse In the 1950s the MP was officially opposed to the ecumenical movement (it was considered “capitalist”). But in the 1960's the MP joined the World Council of Churches and has participated in all the ecumenical mad-houses of the last two generations,.from Vancouver in 1983 to Assisi in 1986 to Chambesy in 1990 and Balamand in 1994." - TRUE-ORTHODOX: "Yes, but isn't their a real revival going on in "Holy Russia?" Vladimir Moss: "Anyone who has not simply visited Russia, but has tried to live there for any period of time knows that it is a criminal state to an extraordinary degree. No, Milton, Holy Russia still exists, but deep underground, far from the surface of neo-Soviet life.” - TRUE-ORTHODOX: "Have you experienced these things yourself?" Vladimir Moss: "I own a house in Suzdal and can personally attest that Russia is now divided into the thieving rich and the multitudes of the poor. The MP leaders are both exceedingly rich and on the side of the rich. Sacraments and leading positions are sold for money. Superstition and pornography is rife. Corruption is omnipresent. In the country as a whole belief in God is at a very low level, lower than in many western countries. Nothing can be obtained without bribes. Murder is common. Alcoholism and drug-taking are at record levels. Suicide in the Russian army is a national scandal. Abortion has reached catastrophic levels, as a Russian doctor told me only a few days ago - there are now more abortions than live births. But for a few roubles you can get a prayer of absolution from the MP! So that's alright then..." - TRUE-ORTHODOX: "This doesn’t bode well for tourism in Russia does it?!" Vladimir Moss: "Perhaps never before in her history has Russia sunk so low. For, as St. John of Kronstadt prophesied, as long as Russia does not have an Orthodox tsar she will be "a stinking corpse." And the corpse stinks more and more as time passes. - TRUE-ORTHODOX: "Yes but can't the ROCOR save Russia and the Moscow Patriarchy?" Vladimir Moss: "How can the ROCOR, while abandoning her traditional dogmatic and canonical heritage, save anybody? The ROCOR must open her ears and hear the words of the Saviour saying, "Physician, heal thyself!" - TRUE-ORTHODOX: "But what about all the beautiful Russian churches that are opening by the minute?" Vladimir Moss: "As St. Theophan the Recluse prophesied, golden cupolas on the outside, and the abomination of desolation inside.” - TRUE-ORTHODOX: "What a bleak picture you present!" Vladimir:” For now yes. Yet Russia will be resurrected. Of that I am firmly convinced. But it will happen only when the Russian people repent not only of communism but also of what Fr. Konstantin Zaitsev called the worst consequence of communism -the Soviet Orthodox Church.”
